The Federation of Traditional Metal Roofing Contractors is supported by a number of Associate Members who are non-contractor organisations, involved in the sector through the products or services they provide.
Whilst there are no formal qualification criteria in order to become an Associate Member of the FTMRC, there is a requirement for a commitment to quality standards in product and service in support of the contractor member.
There are four categories of FTMRC Associate Member:
1) Manufacturing Associates (Metal)
Manufacturing Associates produce the aluminium, copper, steel and zinc materials used by FTMRC members to a British, or European Standard.
The production and supply of quality metal in its various forms from Manufacturing Associates is further enhanced by the technical advice and reference literature available to the architect, specifier and installer, as well as performance warranties, training, research and development and other supporting services.
The FTMRC Guide to Good Practice was drawn up in close consultation with our manufacturing associates, who are European based. The vast technical knowledge and experience that they bring to the UK market is an invaluable tool in our efforts to drive up standards of design and workmanship.
A further indicator of their commitment is the training courses provided, either directly or co-ordinated by the FTMRC, to ensure the UK contractor has the opportunity to gain the design knowledge and develop the hands on skills demonstrated by their European counterparts.
2) Manufacturing Associates (non Metal)
Non-metal Manufacturing Associates include those that produce insulation materials, composite panels, breather membranes, underlay, roof safety systems, etc.
They provide design services, technical support and reference literature guides for the specification and use of their products and work closely with both Metal Manufacturing Associates and Contractor Members of the FTMRC.
3) Distribution Associates
Providing the vital link between manufacturer and on-site contractor are those that stock and distribute the essential metals and ancillary products used by FTMRC members.
In their role as merchant and distributor, these Associate Members provide key front line support in providing a comprehensive product supply service, delivered to site as required, often in customised vehicles complete with crane off load facilities. The range of ancillary products stocked provides the contractor with the ideal one stop supply location.
4) Support Services
These organisations are not manufacturers or distributors but are involved in the sector through their provision of support services to the contractor, such as insurance products, financial services or legal expertise. |
